Season final for Pierre Kaffer in Europe
Hankook_LMS_HTTT_2009_692.JPG With the fifth and last race of the Le Mans Series in Silverstone on the 13th September 2009 Pierre Kaffer said goodbye to Europe's race tracks for 2009.

The Hankook Team Farnbacher Ferrari F430 was driven by Pierre Kaffer and Christian Montanari in the LMS season final not as usual by Pierre and Allan Simonsen. Simonsen started at the same time in Australia, his place of residence and was therefore not able to take part in the LMS.

Pierre who did in Silverstone his 15th race with a F430 this year placed the number 89 on P5 in qualifying and stated after: "What a pitty, sadly I had a lot of traffic in my best flying lap otherwise perhaps we could have reached P4."

Without the typical English weather, rain, fog and wind, Pierre entered the race on the historic traditional track, the origin of British motorsport, in sunshine on Sunday the 13th September. Pierre was extremely exposed at this 1000km race because he was nearly the maximum time of four hours in the F430 on this challenging track. At the end of the six hour race P5 was the result for the team around Pierre Kaffer. Sadly the target of a podium position wasn't achieved.

Pierre who was on the way to the airport during the last five laps because he had to be an instructor for a driving training at the Nürburgring on Monday morning: "Sadly we didn't got on the podium. I wanted to be on the podium at my last European race of this season but it wasn't possible today although we were able to keep up with the Dunlop-Ferrari at the beginning.

The team did a great job, faultless pit stops and also Christian, as a newcomer in the team, did constant lap times. It was really hard work for me to drive nearly four hours in such a small time frame but I am feeling good and I am looking forward to the Nürburgring tomorrow morning.

This season was very informative for Hankook and we collected a lot of important information for the upcoming season. Let's see what will happen in 2010."

For Pierre the last two rounds of the American Le Mans Series are still to come in 2009, Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca.
